The Cerec Crown procedure offers the advantage of furnishing a crown to a patient in a single visit. The traditional method for making crowns involves taking and impression of the teeth and then sending the impression to a lab to create the crown. The Cerec system uses a three-dimensional scan of the patient's mouth using the Cerec Omnicam, rather than impressions. The Cerec system mills the crown based on the three-dimensional images to insure a proper fit. The milling procedure is done while the patient waits so that the patient will receive the crown in the same day.
